13th International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels Kicks Off on the 13th of March!
International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels, which started 12 years ago “by women and for women” with the words “women make movies”, sets out on its journey for the 13th time on the 13th of March, Friday, in Istanbul. “Women’s Cinema, Women’s Resistance, Cinema of Resistance” will be on screen in 6 cities until the 27th of April.
Focusing on the theme “Women’s Cinema, Women’s Resistance, Cinema of Resistance” this year, International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels will kick off on the 13th of March, Friday, in Istanbul. The festival will take place in Istanbul between March 13-22, in Denizli on March 28-29, in Muğla-Bodrum on April 4-5, in Diyarbakır on April 11-12, in Adana on April 18-19, and in Izmir on April 25-26.
The festival aims to meet the experiences, dreams, agenda, and productions of women together with cinema and in the cinema. The festival films will be presented in thematic screenings titled as “Women’s Cinema”, “A Purse of Her Own”, “Sex-ual-ity”, and “Our Body is Ours”. In the festival which will cover the retrospectives of two inspiring filmmakers, Margarethe von Trotta and Nahid Persson Sarvestani, more than 60 films from 25 countries will be screened. In addition to the film screenings; workshops, discussions with the participation of filmmakers, and panel discussions will also take place.
13th International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels will begin with the festival march. In the opening ceremony, Purple Camera Promising Woman Filmmaker Award will be given with the purposes of encouraging non-passive, non-traditional, and non-sexist representations of women and opening up a space for women for their subjecthood, subjectivity, resistance, action, and dreams. In the closing ceremony, once again, Golden Okra Awards will be presented for the 7th time with the recurring wishes of a film sector free of sexism and male dominance. The festival tickets will be on sale in March. The proceeds of ticket sales will go to women and children from Şengal (Sinjar) and Kobani, who are living in the tent cities.
