21. International Filmmor Women's Film Festival on Wheels is on its way!

After being organized online for three years due to the pandemic, the International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival on Wheels will finally be held in person again this year. The 21st Filmmor Women’s Film Festival will commence on 20th June and will run until 30th June with in-person sessions at district-level Neighbourhood Houses of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, İBB Beyoğlu Movie Theater, and the Institut Français, as well as online open-access sessions.

On its 21st year, the women-only Filmmor festival-forum will feature films, forums, and post-film discussions for the sections “Password: Peace”, “Local Politics On-Site Cinema”, “Feminist Memory”, and “Rights-Based Cinema”. This year, Sector Meetings will host film critics.

The Filmmor Women’s Film Festival is set to kick off on June 20th with a public online screening of the film “Stitching Palestine” under the “Password: Peace” section. Besides screenings at İBB Beyoğlu Movie Theater and Institut Français, this year’s festival will also travel to Neighbourhood Houses in various districts of Istanbul.

While refreshing Feminist Memory by showcasing the films Kim Mihri and Retroterapi, the 21st festival will also commemorate Bilge Olgaç, one of the directors who made it possible for women in cinema to create a women’s cinema in Turkey, on the 30th anniversary of her passing by screening the film Kasik Dusmani.;

All festival events will be free of charge, and the final program will be shared next week. We hope to see you all on June 20th at the festival.
